Chaplaincies – Supporting Development
Working at the interface between Christian communities and the wider population chaplaincies have a crucial role to play in society. Whether associated with education, healthcare, industry or retail, they seek to provide an accessible presence for those seeking comfort, purpose and understanding.
In a culture where openly speaking of personal faith is not easy, the creation of opportunities for reflection and spiritual conversation is a pressing need. The design of safe places where all are welcome to explore their own issues of life and faith is both a challenge and an opportunity for those working in chaplaincies.
This Consultancy offers a number of services designed to help in the establishment and maintenance of these ‘opportunities for spiritual conversation’. These include:
Training in the facilitation of conversational groups.
The design of appropriate settings in which the conversation might take place.
The production of suitable stimulus material.
On-going consultation and support.
Northampton Diocese – the consultancy is represented on a stream of effort to examine and support adult lay formation. Part of the task in front of them is to examine the role and function of chaplaincies within the diocese to schools, hospitals and prisons so as to design and offer appropriate training and support.
Mission in the Economy – Mark Davis has designed and delivered days for chaplains working in retail and healthcare settings. Entitled ‘To Be and To Say’ they focussed on the moment of encounter between chaplains and those they serve.
