An organisation founded to help Christian Communities respond to the needs of contemporary society. Through a mixture of facilitation, conversation, consultation and training, our experienced and highly trained personnel are ready to provide various forms of necessary support, expertise and encouragement. Why Shoreline? The coastal margins represent for us a magical borderland between two worlds – the spiritual and material dimensions to existence. A temporary, transient environment, it reflects, in its varied moods, the restless movement of heart and spirit. Yet it is also a place of peace and light, somewhere to go if you want to stop and reflect, to take stock and make choices. The name, therefore, has been deliberately chosen in recognition of the transcendence and mystery that inhabits every aspect of human experience. It is also an image designed to evoke feelings of freedom and exploration as we respond creatively and positively to the changing movements of our times…. The Prevailing Context One of the most interesting paradoxes to emerge within our culture in recent years is that of the widespread disconnection from traditional religion and yet a growing thirst for spirituality in all its forms. From the point of view of the Christian Churches this is often portrayed as an alarming development, evidence of the decline and disappearance of much that is of value. Yet, it could just as easily be viewed in a more positive light as a God-given opportunity for critical self-examination, heartfelt reflection and necessary transformation. Looking around, it is clear that many Christian communities are currently in transition - moving from previous ways of 'being church' to other forms more relevant to these rapidly changing times. While remaining faithful to the heart of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, they are seeking contemporary and innovative solutions to the challenges of today. Change is never easy, especially if the ultimate outcome is beyond our sight, and yet it can be creatively managed. While the future will, no doubt, surprise us it will not overwhelm us if we prepare ourselves appropriately. Draw from our experience to discover how your diocese or parish; school or chaplaincy; Christian organisation or religious community, can find new and constructive ways of thinking, planning and operating. Between us we can find your best way forward. Mark Davis (Principal Consultant) Recent Work |
